What you say is as important as what you eat!

    In several health coaching conversations recently, I have emphasized the importance of “self talk” to support the desire to lose weight. Too often, we replay words that lead to sabotage. Here are some examples:

Sabotage Talk: “I feel so deprived when my family eats bread (dessert, etc) and I can’t have any.”

Success Talk: “I can have that bread (dessert, etc) or I can choose to continue my weight loss. I choose my health.”

Sabotage Talk: “I can’t go anywhere without planning my meals.”

Success Talk:I can go anywhere by planning my meals or I can get a Lean and Green Meal.”

Sabotage Talk: “My family wants pasta or potatoes with every meal and that makes me want to eat it too.”

Success Talk: “I need to broaden my family’s food choices to share what I’m learning about healthy eating.”

Sabotage Talk uses; I can’t, I miss, I should, I have to… words that say you are a slave to food and can never achieve your wellness goals.

Success Talk uses I can, I choose, I desire, I intend, I WILL!… words that say you can align your body with your mind and achieve your wellness goals.

Be careful what you say to yourself. The voice inside your head is your own so allow it to be your most powerful ally in wellness.
